Around the Throne [AMP-10]

This jubilant song provides vivid imagery of the everlasting Heavenly celebration promised in Scripture, as well as how it is possible – through the sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross.

The work was originally scored for SATB, organ, and handbells (piano could substitute for either). An SATB and piano score is also available. The choral parts are identical between the two versions, including the placement of line and page breaks.

Text

  1. Around the throne of God in Heaven thousands of Christians stand; All those whose sins have been forgiven, A holy, happy band, Singing, “Glory, glory, glory be to God on high.”
  2. In flowing robes of spotless white see every one arrayed; They dwell in everlasting light and joys that never fade, Singing, “Glory, glory, glory be to God on high.”
  3. What brought them to that world above, That Heaven so bright and fair, Where all is peace, and joy, and love, How came those Christians there?
  4. The savior shed his dying blood to wash away their sin; Bathed in that pure and precious flood, They came there white and clean, Singing, “Glory, glory, glory be to God on high.”
  5. If now we seek the Savior's grace, If now we love his name, We soon shall see his blessed face And in his glory stand, Singing, “Glory, glory, glory be to God on high.”
