Everything That Has Breath
A collaboration with the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship

Everything That Has Breath provides worship and music leaders with instrumental accompaniments for congregational hymns. The arrangements are primarily intended to be used with congregational singing, but they also work well as standalone instrumental works. Flexible, creative use of these arrangements is encouraged.

In the singing of these hymns, may the Church “Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150: 1, 6)

— Robert Nordling & John D. Witvliet, co-editors

Included with each purchase

Each arrangement includes a spiral-bound conductor’s score, a full set of instrumental parts, and a CD. Also included is permission to make as many copies of the instrumental parts as needed – no additional license fee is required! The included CD contains PDF copies of the instrumental parts as well as hymn texts and music formatted for bulletins and projection systems.

Custom–transposed parts: Flexibility for any ensemble

The arrangements in this series vary in instrumentation and complexity, ranging from arrangements for string quartet to arrangements for symphony orchestra. In the real world, however, few churches have instrumental ensembles that neatly fit these definitions. As said in the introduction to this series, “flexible, creative use of these arrangements is encouraged.” To make this task easier, each purchase includes online access to custom–transposed parts.

For example, perhaps a church is lacking confident violinists but is blessed with an overabundance of clarinetists. Rather than transposing the music by hand, the instrumental director can visit our web site to download violin parts transposed for B♭ clarinets. We've included enough transposition and clef options to work with just about any conceivable instrumentation.

To try out these custom–transposed parts, visit the page for any of the individual arrangements in the series.
